Great coincidence, this just happened to me yesterday, except it was my wife
not my child. The last time this happened to me 10 or so years ago, I went
by my local Speedy Autoglass, who reattached it for free within a few
minutes. I was going to give this a try again. The shop I went to seemed
pretty interested in getting me as a customer, hence no charge.

You should be able to buy a kit to refasten the mirror clip to 
the glass. I remember at one point there was a kit available at 
Canadian Tire.

and dad isn't too pleased.

Anyone got an idea on the best way to stick it back on the 
window?  It looks like the fastening plate was embedded in the 
glass.  I used super glue and it seems to be holding, but don't 
want to be embarrassed when it flies into my lap while taking 
clients to lunch tomorrow.
