Subject: [s-cars] To silicon the headlight gasket or not...

I put Euro lenses (over the factory reflector)in my
car over a year ago and bought some of the 30 mil
precut headlight film to cover them. Best thing I ever
did. Tom S was nice enough to get me a set cheap. High
beams are awesome. They held up like new over many
salt blasted trips skiing.
The challenge is taking them apart the first time as
the rubber seal literally vulcanizes to the glass. We
did this when I tried to think cleaning the inside of
the stock reflector and lens would help. It
did...marginally. Once apart it is easy after that. I
put a light film of ArmorAll or WD40 on the seal so it
would seperate the next time, which it did in a flash.
Come by neighbor, and I'll show ya. You'll need two
people to take them apart the first time;)

Hi guys,
hey I'll be throwing in some Euro lenses over the
weekend. I thought I
remember someone saying they recomended placing a
small silicon bead on
the
gasket during assembly. I suspect it could make the
next lens
replacement
more challenging, is it neccassary ?
thanks in advance,
tom.
