Thanks Sean.
I have access to a mechanic that likely has the "special tools" to remove the viscous clutch. Should he not have them, perhaps I will ask my seven year old daughter to slip her little fingers in there as someone else suggested.
Kidding....I would never expect a girl to do this. Now if I had a son......

When I did my timing belt, I did #1 above, yes its tight and you will
get scraped knuckles, but doable.
Spray some penetrating oil on the 3 bolts as these tend to seize as the
clutch is aluminum. Also, remember to mark the fan so you can put it
back correctly.
