Lumens is a direct measurement of LIGHT output, not heat. The total of
55W of
energy in of the low beam is the same weather 9005 or 9011. Since there
is actually
more light output of the 9011, then there is less total HEAT (not
necessarily temperature).
Since HEAT is what is needed to cause a temperature rise in the space
surrounding the
bulb, (i.e. heat causes a temperature change, not the other way around)
the odds are
exceptionally good that the lamp housing will actually experience less
temperature rise
than with a 9005 bulb. So, IMHO, there is little risk of melting the lamp
housing. As
soon as I figure what bulbs are in an S6/A6, I may think of trying these
bulbs. The
$39 bulb price is a little steep, but I wouldn't mind bring up the
performance of the low
beams/fogs. The high beams are fine.
