FWIW, I'm picking up a set of 225/50x16 Rsi's...., but that's mostly in
anticipation of doing several of the Steamboat driving events where there's
a premium on all out ice (vs. the various flavors, packed, slush etc., of
snow) traction AND I have a set of 17" speed (they are at least H (?)) rated
Michelin Artic Pilots I can fall back on and put on the cars for most of the
city winter driving season.
Unless you live in Steamboat or Vail or Aspen or Telluride etc., Colorado
front range roads are rarely that snowy, much less ice packed. For all
round 95%+ of the time typical Colorado winter driving conditions something
like the WR's (and I believe these come in "T", "H" "V" and "W" ratings) are
a better all round choice. The probably would wear longer as well. The
best the Hakka Rsi offers is a "R" (170kph/105mph) rating, and I think is
softer rubber compound that won't wear as well or long as the WR. OTOH, for
"all season" performance, I think the NRVi or NRZi would be a better choice.
Hopefully the Rsi will finally give the Blizzak WS50, which I think has been
the consensus best performing ice tire, a run for the money at Steamboat.
On the -'s side, the Blizzak's IMO are lousy (i.e. very "squirmy") good
(i.e.. sunny & dry) weather tires.
My two cents
