Yes, it should be the same.  This B/W wires sends a ground signal to the diff relay from the ECU based on speed sensor input.    Cutting the wire causes that speed interrupt to no longer function.  I suggest a 3USD switch instead of just cutting it.  For 'others' driving your car, it's not such a bad feature.
