[s-cars] coolant temp gauge reading low

Thanks to all who replied to my post.  Per Varon's suggestion, I compared the temp gauge needle to the read out from the climate control.  The control read 83, and would go up only if I stood still at idle, only to about 86 or 87; at the same time the gauge went up, never to what I thought was a normal reading however. The plan is this:  Replace thermostat - check gauge, if still not working, replace multi function sender.  Since the car is going for a timing belt next week, I will have the mechanic perform this job.
