Right on, Igor. The unit is useless for pre-OBD-II cars without the
VAS 1551/2 adapter, so don't be put off by the high price. If you need
it, you gotta have it, or make your own that will probably come apart
just when you need it.
Of course, the assumption is you have a laptop to run it on. If not,
maybe you want to consider Pro-Diag at <www.shadetreesoftware.com> and
a handheld PDA to run that on. Each has it's own advantages. I own
both and find both to be excellent products.
These are just tools and not a substitute for the repair manual, so put
a Bentley manual on the wish list if you don't have one yet.
It would be nice if Steve would get it working with the Garmin iQue
3600 to help justify that pricey hog. Of course, getting lost on the
country roads of France and Holland should be enough.
