To make for a better comparison, IMO only, the inlet on the top to bottom
FMIC ought to be reworked to allow for better air distribution across the
length of the IC core.  I've got a band saw & some misc parts and thoughts
about what could be done if Dave's interested.  So far, list  theories and
Corky Bell's tips and ROT* not withstanding, the side-to-side version has
come out ahead of the top to bottom on the dyno tests I've seen.  I suspect
that's a failure on the, ah unnamed, designer's part, although it could be,
I guess, partly attributed to differences in core properties and
construction.
