Another final word. My mechanic who recently did a flush for me, uses
something called Hepu, from Germany, that is definitely BLUE.

Unless it's pink, the VAG stuff is the essentially the same as regular
off-the-shelf generic brands.  So far, the reservoir looks clean with no
chunks of any kind.  Since I do not have the inclination to lose the car for
another day and pay for a flush, or to get under the car in these
temperatures, I'm going to leave well enough alone. Thanks again for all
