[s-cars] Pressure or vacuum test?

Folks,
since the weather today was rather cool I drove to work with the windows
rolled up for the first time in several months. Suddenly I heard a
distinctive hissing sound coming from the front left side of the engine
compartment. I also noticed that the boost gauge would climb only up to
15-16 psi and in a somewhat lazy manner and the acceleration was
somewhat slower.
Methinks it's the lower crosspipe-to-intercooler Samco hose slipping
off. I recall that somebody had recently posted some pix on an unrelated
subject, but in that gallery I saw a makeshift pressure testing device
built around a 2.5" or 3" PVC plumbing parts and a bicycle tyre valve.
Could that person kindly repost the pix, along with the DIA of the PVC
used? Also I need to be reminded just which hose needs to be
disconnected and plugged for the test so that no oil seal or gasket gets
blown in the engine. I think it was Kirby who posted the procedure.
Also, do we apply vacuum or positive pressure? Do we use shampoo lather
to pinpoint the leak?
Thanks much in advance.
