[s-cars] Brake light...hydraulic fluid flushing - frustration

S-nutz,
Ok, my 93 had the brake light staying on for minutes when starting the
car. Quickly realized the bomb was weak, adn it got weaker.
I replaced the bomb and the light went away...for 1 day, and then
started coming on again, first for ~5 seconds..then longer.
Inquired about how to flush my mydraulic fluid, received replies
describing two different methods.
Method 1 is attached in pdf form, basicly involves pumping the bomb to
remove pressure, removing the return line from the bomb to drain fluid,
cleaning the resevoir, moving the steering wheel back and forth to
empty
it of fluid, replace line to bomb and refill with fluid.
Method 2 is:
"No BTDT on flushing the S4/S6 hydraulics.
So far, I've only replaced a leaking hose from
the pump to the steering gear. But this is my input
based on my understanding of the system.
I'm assuming you'll have a new pump installed
to move the fluid during the flushing procedure.
First I would make sure the reservoir is clean,
and then remove the smaller return line and
attach a longer line from this hose to a container for
draining the spent fluid. Plug the smaller opening on
the reservoir that was left disconnected. After starting
the engine, you'll need to keep the reservoir filled as
the pump pulls fluid from it. I'm not sure how
fast this will drain, so it might be good to have
someone in the car to cut the engine if you're
struggling to keep it filled without spilling precious
Pentosin. I'm sure you'll want to do this with
the strainer removed to allow quick refilling.
You may want to move the steering back and
forth to alternately build and release pressure on the
steering circuit. Also pump the brakes to get fluid
flow though the booster. Pumping the brakes with
the engine off, and then running the engine again
to recharge the bomb (and then repeating this cycle)
should help to flush the bomb circuit."
Used the first method to flush the system and replaced the fluid, light
went out for about 1 day and then returned. Also note the steering felt
improved after flushing and slowly degenerated.
Decided to try method #2, purchased 3 cans of fluid and used the second
methond to flush and Once again the steering felt improved after
flushing and slowly degenerated.
Now what would cause the light to go away and then come back, do I have
lines that are deteriorating and flushing the fluid removes debris
which starts to accumulate again? With 225,000 miles on the car are
there any lines I should consider replacing?
Anybody else have this problem?
Thanks
Chris
