I just thought I would share my results from the other night at the
dragstrip.

The Car:
1992 UrS4. Only modification was a chip, otherwise totally stock even down
to the all-season 15x7.5 speedlines The chip was a loaner from Chad Clark
(Thanks Chad!) produced by Steve Eiche with the VMAP sensor. The sensor was
set at the "2.8" setting.

The track and conditions:
The track was Bandimere Speedway in Morrison, CO. Elevation is 5800 feet.
Very high humidity as it stopped raining at 4:45 and the track wasn't
finished being "dried" until 7:00, let's just say I am glad I was racing a
Quattro car and not my '72 Firebird. Temperature was approx. 55 degrees F
for most of the night.

I got to make 5 runs. 4 runs were between 14.66 seconds and 14.97 seconds
with the 5th run being a horrible botch at the starting line resulting in a
15.20. The MPH trap speeds were all between 93.1 and 94.2. All runs, with
the exception of one experimental run, were finished in 3rd gear at about
6700 rpm.

The 14.66 run was a pretty good launch with a 2.05 second 60 foot time, so
anybody who says you can't get these cars out of the hole is full of it;
that's only 0.1 seconds more than what I could do with my '87 GTA with a
fuel injected V-8 at sea level with unbelievable throttle response.

This was basically designed as a test of what would just the chip
accomplish. Judging from the times that I ran with a stock setup in July
and 90+ degree heat a couple of years ago (15.4) I am guessing that the chip
picked up about 0.5 to 0.6 seconds over a stock setup as the temp difference
accounts for probably 0.2 seconds of that change.

There was a good Audi showing there. There was a UrS6 there with an MTM
chip that I think was running around 14.9 to 15.1. There were a few B5 S4's
there. A couple with full Sportec stage 3 conversions running between 12.9
to 13.7 seconds. There were also a couple of custom jobs there. An Audi 90
with a 10 valve custom setup that I have seen run high 12's in the past
didn't quite have the traction to get there that night. Also a very nice 20
valve stroker (2.5L) in a Quattro Coupe that ran as low as a 12.6. Really a
great bunch of guys out there. The only unfortunate part was there were no
M-3s to spank. Last time I was out with my Firebird there was a whole
gathering of M-3's running 14.9 to 15.x. Only a lone 525 running 17+
seconds this time :)

Just thought I would share the results for everybody's "notebooks".
