[s-cars] MAF questions

When my MAF was on its death bed, it caused a very rough idle, then
would not idle unless I mashed on the gas, but then would quickly die
anyway.
While it still operated enough to run the car, the hesitation was so
odd sounding, I thought I had blow a boost hose, the resulting
performance also lead me to believe this had happened. I was not so
lucky.
CEL is par for the course when the MAF goes south.
Also, the shinny Stromung tips became black and sooty from running rich.
