Tony: The O2 sensor is definitely a DIY deal. However, a proper socket
with a slot on the side for the wires is highly recommended.
The one I bought (for under CDN$20) was/is a K-D 3259 Made in the US
of
A. 1/2" drive and/or 3/4" wrench drive. I went OEM plug and play (more
money) O2 sensor. Next time I will likely do the splice in a generic
Bosch unit
route as per Gabriel Caldwell's posting.
45,000 km or so isn't likely the end of your plugs but if you can get a
set cheap (about $15/plug) then, I would say do it. Remember that the
plugs need to be torqued to 22 ft-lbs and never back them off to
retorque. (A good 5/8" spark plug socket that locks to a 6" or 8"
extension is an asset).
