IC Bulbs - was RE: [s-cars] Ignition Switch

There is a company in Germany that modifies these old instrument
clusters to shine other colors. I don't know what the procedure they
use is? Bulbs condoms? LEDs? It looks good but it's not for me. All
red or dead is what I always say.

On this same topic, has anyone tried replacing the dash lights with red
rather than white bulbs? There was talk in the list archives of trying
for a more "red look" (rather than the stock "orange look") for the
dash lights like in the newer Audis, but I wasn't able to find any
follow-up messages on the topic.

Has anyone had any success?

There was also talk of using LEDs rather than incandescent bulbs, but I
immediately think that would cause issues with dimming the dash lights.

Any success (or otherwise) stories using LEDs?

Has anyone tried using any other colours for the dash litghting (blue or

white for instance)?
