Thanks Joe and Paul

I have ordered the diaphragm valve which Audi calls "Pressure Regulating
Valve" part # 034 129 101 A, because mine is definitely shot.  Your
evaluation of the problem makes a lot of sense.

Now, I wasn't aware of a PCV valve on this engine, but there is a bleeder
valve (Audi speak) under the manifold.  Would this be the PCV valve on this
engine?  I will take a look at later to see if it's functioning.
