[s-cars] Any interest in a 9011/9012

Mike: I think you have some terminology problems. The only part that
you can change on the DOT headlights with available off-the-shelf
parts
are the outer lenses. The replacements are the Euro outer lenses.
These
are available from Blaufurnugen or PUMA (I just reconfirmed this with
Paul
Homitz at 1-800-333-7862). There are no replacement parts for
anything
inside including the Hella DE projector lens. However, following the

procedures at UrS4.com, you can clean these internal lenses for some
noticable improvements.

The DOT lights normally use 9006 lows and 9005 highs (except the 97's
in
Canada have H1 lows). These 9xxx series bulbs can be replaced by 9012
lows and 9011 highs for a much brighter light at the same (Not more)
voltage and amperage draw as the stock bulbs. There is no infrared
replacement for the H1 bulbs that I know of. When you combine the
9011
and 9012 bulbs with Euro lenses on DOT housings, the improvement will

be significant.

The other, much more expensive options are:

- DOT housings, HID bulbs
- DOT housings, HID bulbs, Euro lenses
- Euro head lights, H-series bulbs
- Euro head lights, HID conversion bulbs

That's as "clear" as I can get. Maybe others can chime in. Dave F.

I read it but I still don't know if I have this straight. Are you
saying I can use these bulbs with my stock DOT headlights with good
results?

Would I get better results if I replaced the internal lens? They cost
about $80 each. And I'd get even better results if I replace the whole
external unit? That would cost about $800. Not doing that.

But no matter what, I can make these bulbs work in any
of these configurations?

Thanks a lot.
