Ed,
Check the power steering failure post from Jeff Hemmerlin and the
advice offered. I would suspect you would need the pump removal advice
also. Your description is a leak at the two mating halves of the pump
shell, yes? That would indicate the gasket failed or bolts loosened
and I would think the best solution would be pull the pump and replace
the gasket and retorque the bolts. I believe the factory uses a press
to clamp the two halves together when installing the bolts rather than
trying to pull the two halves together with the bolts, so something to
assist clamping the two halves back together would be useful.
I have the following p/n's. You won't need them all.
026 198 049B (pump repair gasket kit for '91 200 has center gasket,
etc and fits, I think)
026 145 541 (x-plug and o ring for '91 200 is a definite fit )
The following p/n's are from Dan Hussey for rebuild gaskets for pump:
(Are you there, Dan?)
ps pump o rings N 013 844 4 (2 each)
gasket N 013 816 5 (2 each)
ps pump gasket N904 054 01 (2 each)
I could not find any repair parts for the S6, thus the 200 20V numbers.
The x plug kit does work on the S6 pump. I believe the pumps are
identical except for the mounting bracket, try at your own risk.
Dan's numbers may be useful ( and better) for finding the parts you
need, but I have not used them.
If the pump runs smoothly and a fluid change doesn't reveal a lot of
metal, a reseal may be all that's needed. HTH
Tom '95 S6 If you need a pump, most online parts places have rebuilts
or new, this place may be helpful also:
