I don't know that I would be too quick to come to such a conclusion.

You're assuming the relationship is linear between the data points of 
A) Stock exhaust  (large backpressure)
B) Opeln exhaust.  (small backpressure)

That doesn't prove at all that there isn't a power/torque gain (or
loss) at some mid-point between (medium backpressure).

That's the equvalent of saying...
"Well I tried my tires with 30 psi and they had very little grip. so I
put in 50 psi and they didn't gain or lose any grip compared to 30psi.
  Therefore, having 40 psi of pressure in the tires wouldn't be an
improvement at all compared to 30 psi."

And I don't think anyone will agree with that statement!
