Teddy Chen'd:

<<<IMHO, if you are happy with your brakes and the brake pads you used, why
mess with them? you've already got everything installed and working.
i would just buy the same pads and get another enjoyable, trouble-free
40-45k miles out of them.

i've got the same brake setup on my car, and i'm happy with it except for
a slight squeal when coming to a stop (but it's a minor annoyance).

i don't see any need to put bigger brakes on it. it's a street car, after
all.

Squeal? What squeal? Get out there and whomp that squeal out of them
already heh heh. That makes it go away. Seriously! As Serge aptly noted
"I am certain you are up to the task"...

ANYwho...

I hear your points and they are very rational. Unfortunately I am not a
very rational person 8-), seems Serge's "Given the growing nature of your
family, and you being the provider and all, I think it would be
irresponsible not to replace the A8 boat-anchors with the much more
effective P-brake rotors>>> is fitting. OK, seriously...

You're right, I did like my current set up and it did work exceptionally
well for me. However, Serge is right, the rotors are BOAT ANCHORS (bad
enough running 26lb. 17x8 Avus mit 255s... someday I'm pitching these too
for some SSRs or something, stay tuned). And the Mintex reds provide great
initial bite, but fade quick and experience major gooification (technical
term) when wailed on. I throw Mintex shrapnel inside my wheel often, looks
like large wads 'o chewing gum. They're OK but I'm looking forward to a
change really.

Thanks again for the feedback gents.

ps. yours and every other (normal) persons definition of 'street car' and
my definition of 'street car' are likely FAR FAR different. Remembering I
have issues, mine would likely be defined as "any car that is physically ON
the street, regardless of legality, use, or purpose".
