I think the reason that we got a dual exhaust system was the car was already engineered for it via the V6 and, since it has such large capacity (600 hp or so they say), I am sure the Audi engineers just decided to raid the parts bin (and keep inventory requirements down). "ALL" they had to do was design the turbo to cats "Y" pipe.

test. Maybe at some point. Can't help but wonder why it was designed that way.
Certainly, a dual exhaust costs more to produce... 2 cats, dual inlet/outlet
mufflers. So, that leads me to believe there was some engineering rational for
its use. But that's pure speculation...
