[s-cars] Reliability of mid 90's 90CS Quattros

I own a 1993 Audi 90CS V6, and have driven a couple. In my experience
the car has been extremely reliable, and fun to drive. It is not
nearly as fast as my UrS4 (obviously) but in all honesty for daily
driving it feels more nimble and convenient. It does lack some of the
creature comforts like power passenger seat, no heated rear seats...
but those are somewhat trivial in my opinion. Especially for what
sounds like a kid. I've had mine for about 7 years now, and put maybe
3000-4000 dollars into maintenance... which in my opinion is very good
for an Audi. I put that into my UrS4 in 18 months.
The negative I've noticed is that the Automatic 90's I've driven have
felt absolutely terrible. I would highly recommend staying away from
them, and making sure you find a 5-speed.
RE : The head gasket issue, I began to find a little oil in my
coolant, and having heard everyone talk of head gaskets became
concerned. Brought the car to NEA in concord telling them I thought it
was the headgasket, and they told me that it is somewhat of a myth.
NEA said that 9 times out of 10 it is the oil cooler not the head
gasket, and they were correct. We replaced the cooler, and the leak
has stopped.
Anyways I could ramble all day - the 90 was my first car when I turned
16 - 7 years ago, and I still love it too much to get rid of it. Even
with the S4 around.
