I would highly recommend the Falken Ziex ZE-512s to you. They are available 
in 255/40-17 and have a wear rating of 360, very good. Consumer Reports had 
them as their top rated all-season performance tire. They also weigh the same as 
the Toyo T1S at 23.1 lbs. This should save you at least 2 lbs per tire over 
other types and brands. Edge Racing has them for $104 each. My wife has these on 
her A6 4.2. Their wet performance is excellent. HTH
