[s-cars] Cranking problems...

I had a similar starting problem a while back. I put a fuel pressure
gauge on the fuel rail and found that when it would not start, I did not
have pressure at the rail. It would take a lot of cranking to get the
fuel pressure up to 58 psi.. I ran a can of B&G 44K through the tank
which so far has cured the problem. My guess is that the check valve at
the fuel pump (in the tank), or the fuel pressure regulator, (FPR) on
the fuel rail, has gummed-up and now allows the fuel to drain back to
the tank after the car sits for a while. When you go to start, the fuel
line has to fill before it will fire. Try the B&G for about $20 before
replacing the FRP or the fuel pump.
