[s-cars] Removing RV Mirror, Pass Side

OK, so I'm trying to get my car ready for painting (new bumper,
old/new fender, bits and pieces) and the body shop says I can save
some money if I remove the exterior trim and mirror from the passenger
door.
The trim strips come off pretty easy. The mirror however has been a
pain. I got the mirror housing separated OK, but one electrical
connector is buried behind the interior panel. I was hoping not to
have to take that off, but I did get it off with some expletives
(finally found last screw), but then, I couldn't get the connector
apart. Does anyone know how to separate this connector? It is about
half way down the door and it seems like the locking mechanism is also
fastened to the door's sheet metal.
The patient is a 95.5 S6 Avant.
