No personal experience (my cars are too old), but I've heard
horror stories that some independent warranty companies, when
you go to collect on your warranty work a year or two down
the road, don't exist anymore -- some of them have short life
spans.

Look for a company with a long, solid history.  Or set aside
the $3500 for potential repairs, and keep your car well
maintained.
