Bob,
I have no AIG experience.
See what rates Erie Insurance has. They were my cheapest back in Indiana,
though I did not look at any of the cut-rate insurance companies. Erie does
not cover people from all regions (e.g. Philadelphia) or states to minimize
claims, but IIRC they cover WVa.
When we moved from Indiana to Ohio the new quote from Erie was not the
cheapest. They had moved me out of the preferred category because of 2
Audi windshields + 1 deer accident in 5 years. Up until then I was very
pleased. I do not think they would have raised my rates based on the claims
I made but since I was requoting with the move to Ohio they felt they had
to change my risk classification based on standard flawed insurance
statistics.
Oh, and they did not seem interested when I pointed out that their
statistics were flawed because none of my claims were actually caused by me
and the occurrence of one random act (or three) was not a predictor of
another future random act. Of course they might have argued that I drove
where stones damage more windshields or deer jump in front of more cars,
but that was not their position on the matter. They basically told me that
I was above the average $ claim rate for people they insure therefore I was
a higher risk. I tried to explain that it was likely that 50% of their
customers were above average and that probably 50% were below average, but
they did not get the point. I did not even start them into the "Mondays and
Fridays account for 40% of workweek absenteeism" conversation.
Anyway, you might want to check out Erie. They were a good company with
good rates.
HTH,
Eric
