[s-cars] what is the optimum tire size for 17x8 wheel

Dave,
I ran Toyo Ts-1 255/40 17s on my S6 avant (Eibach/Bilsteins) and
had no fender flare interference. I did have the fender *liner*
interference on hard compression and reversing, but that was
little more than an annoyance. No tire or fender damage.
Loved those tires!
What have you heard about the T1-R? I'm looking to upgrade from my
Toyo Proxes 4s on my '02, and I'd like to go back to the summer
format...probably in a 255 if they'll fit.
My Proxes 4s, in a 235/45 17" size will go on a set of OZ Novas on
our '96 A6...again if they'll fit. That car would not take a
245/45 16" tire. Zero clearance up front.
