As a million + miler and lifetime gold with American, I can tell a 
few stories. Probably not as many as Hap :)

Most good. Upgrades here, vouchers there, first class upgrades 
with sleeper lounges, super 8 movies and caviar (a few years ago 
on the MD-11). A free robe and fruit basket when I thought I was 
going to end up sleeping in a lobby. Hot cider delivered to the 
room every evening before dinner. The flag suite at the Fairmont 
that was *so* big I got lost in my room. $2K in my pocket for 
getting bumped twice in Miami..and getting home only 3 hours 
later!

A few bad. A woman from Kansas City who insisted on digging her 
spiked heel into my thigh as I wouldn't give up an aisle seat on a 
full plane so she could sit with her husband (he didn't want to 
change either!). Taking 2 days to fly from Las Vegas to Boston in 
an ice storm. Finding shards of glass in an onboard meal (in my 
spoon!).

But I digress.

I'd rather drive. My Audi.
