It most definitely does have the Delta head unit, but the Concert II
makes a nice upgrade.

It will plug right in but you need to do a little fiddling to make it
illuminate.

95.5 has the DELTA head unit and I've picked up one on ebay.  

Friend has replaced this same system in 97 A6 with a Nakamichi head unit
and kept the rest of the bose equipment.

95.5 S6 Avant needs a new radio.  Anything I need to be aware of or will
any aftermarket radio work fine?  Is the car considered a 95 or a 96
when looking at wiring guides from companies such as Crutchfelds?
