[s-cars] Oil Cooler options...

I don't really see that it's needed...
My best advice, if it ain't broke don't fix it.

My oil cooler is likely what your's is from the description you gave.
Unless it's ready to drop, I would not touch it.

Once touched, it WILL leak. then your into some purdy expensive hoses from 
the stealer should you go that route.

as usual YMMV
