A friend recently replaced the driveshaft on a 90q20v (my old one that
I had sold him). He ordered a completely rebuilt driveshaft from
Shokan (everything: new CV's, new carrier bearing, U-joint with grease
insert) for $450. Not bad at all. All you have to do is remove your
old one, install the rebuilt one, and return the old for a core
refund.
IIRC, a new driveshaft assembly from the dealer is over $1k. So, for
$450, the rebuilt is a nice unit. Just holding it, it spun with ease,
making me wish I had one so lubricated. (Lobbing up the easy
response).
Also, Blau sells rebuild kits (with new replacement parts all around)
for $380 (price for the 90q20v); however for the extra $70, I think it
is worth it to have it prebuilt. Fighting with getting the CV's
together, etc. is not worth the effort.
