Well, with my PhD defense completed and free time to spend on the car,
I have built a cable to integrate my Sony-Ericsson HCB-30 bluetooth
kit with the built-in phone setup of the urS car. I didn't have to
modify the car in any way, just build the cable, connect it to your
kit and plug it in. I did spend some time to route the remote wire
from the RJ-45 jack in the center console to the buttons above the
radio.

I bought the car kit off of ebay for $80, then I spent about $7 in
various parts and supplies. It is a wonderful setup as it works with
any bluetooth phone (which allows you to leave the phone in your
pocket or bag and it automatically connects to the kit when you are in
the car). The built-in mic, speaker, stereo mute, etc. all work
beautifully.
I hope it helps some of you bring your car's phone system into the
modern age. The downside of the bluetooth kit is that it is basically
a handsfree for the phone, it does not provide amplified antenna or
anything to the phone itself. My coverage has still been fine though.

Brian
