[s-cars] Rust free not

Folks, 

The old pig avant has what I think could be deemed rust through on the
tailgate:(

Body shop sez it's rusted through the sheet metal.

With original warranty in hand, I read it's guaranteed for, ten count em, 10
years.

AND I am six long months short of that.

Question is I wonder if anyone has ever presented this to a FLAD (friendly
local audi dealer) with or without success?

I wouldn't imagine they just roll over for some stupid old lunatic fringe
audi that is no longer serviced there anyhoo.

Body shop I went to sez that a new tailgate part is only $550. window glass
is $450 +labor of course.  

Who could doubt a freshly painted new tailgate is at least a G note?

We'll see what happens.  Let me know of any strategies.
