I agree that this works best, and is the easiest.  You can actually  see the 
cable going to the passenger side latch through the grill.  If  someone is 
pulling the handle, and you go in there with the aforementioned  coathanger, you 
will simply need to pull slightly on the cable to provide the  additional 
travel needed to release the driver's side.  You don't need to  go after the 
driver's side latch... the system works because it is pulling the 2  sides towards 
each other.  So wherever you pull from, you will still end up  releasing both 
latches.
