[s-cars] Grafting an UrS4 Oil Pressure gauge into an UrS6 IC

Yes there is a place on the block for the sender. There's a plug in the
area where the sender would be on the '92-'94 100/S4. With regard to
the sender, it's not your standard type of VDO oil pressure sender with
a 10mm thread. The thread diameter is something like 16mm or so. So
the factory sender is the only thing that will fit unless you can get an
adapter, but then you have to ask yourself why is that large in the
first place? Must be a reason. Also installing the sender is a bit of
a hassle as it's a tight area. The sender has a plate at the bottom
with 3 equally spaced slots. I fashioned an installation tool out of
some exhaust pipe into which I cut three appropriately sized tabs on one
end, and a series of 4 or 6 through holes on the other end. The holes
are for sticking a rod through to rotate the pipe. I installed the
sender while I was doing the timing belt as this provided me the most
access. Don't know how well this tool will work with everything else in
place. May just need to be made longer to clear things. Oh, and be
sure you have a really good hex driver (8mm as I recall but you'll have
to double check) and that it is fully, fully seated in the plug before
you try to remove it. It is tight, at least mine was, and it's not
difficult to strip the hex (I almost did).
The easiest way to install the gauge is to swap out the circuit board
for the three gauges with one from a '92-'94 100 as you'll be able to
get those IC's much cheaper than one from an S4 at the junkyards. Oh
wait, I just reread your post. You have the IC from Edwin, which was an
S4(?), and your going to install it on your S6? Then you're all set on
the gauge/IC parts. Just need to get the sender and install it/wire it.
