Dave,

Thanks SOO much for your input.

I already replaced the steering dampener last year.

BUT This part is VERY familiar:

This sounds exactly like my car, I have a very poor "on center" feel
and it seems a bit sloppy there. I flushed and replaced the hydraulic
fluid twice last year. Funny thing is I had replaced the brake booster
last year and the steering felt better, but the booster had a defective
seal so I sent it back and purchased a used "new" booster from Elijah.
The booster "passes" the "pump" test (39 pumps with engine off), but
the brake light always comes on and stays on for awhile when I start
the car. Even after only parking it for 5 minutes.

Could the two symptoms be related? Should I be looking at replacing the
high pressure hose?

This is quite perplexing for me.

My current plan is to follow your instructions below to check the lash,
I've inspected my car and the rack doesn't move the mounts seem intact.
On top of the rack there appears to be a "block off plate" with what
appears to be two screws holding it in place and a third in the middle
that seems to be recessed in a portion of the plate. I'm guessing this
middle screw is the adjustment, am I screw correct?

I'll look to see if I can find this write up, I had the car's front end
inspected by both my mechanic and an alignment tech. Neither of which
checked the hydraulics at all, just the mechanicals.

I plan on checking and adjusting the steering rack lash, but I'm also
wondering why my brake light persists in coming on if the bomb passes
the pump test. Is it possible I have a high pressure line
deteriorating, and if so how could I test it?

Any and all ideas/input are greatly appreciated

Thanks
Chris
