Rolf-
Dual rear tailpipes, 6-speed manual transmission only and dual
intercoolers are the easy clues. Oh, and quattro only.
Early TT quattros were all 180s, if you look for a manual quattro and
see twin tailpipes in the back, you're pretty safe to assume that it's
a 225- anyway, 250s are VR6, easy to tell if you pop the hood and
they're DSG only.

I'm about to buy a TT for a client of mine and was wondering how once can differentiate a 180hp version from a 225hp version? I know that if it's not a quattro, then it could be a 180hp version. But were all quattros 225? The person i'm buying for (dealer auction) wants a 225 w/ quattro in the 2001-2003 range. Any info would be helpful!
