Gents-
Tminus 2 days, 1 for you fellow Fridayers. RSVP's are strong; while I
have not fully tallied the mix, expect upward of 100 cars this year.
Got to be nearing 30+ UrS cars alone. What others you ask?
Muwhahahahahahaa. Nutz from NC / GA / VA / MD / NJ / PA / IL / OH / MI
/ NY / CT / VT / NH / ME / Canada are coming. Carazy.
Wanted to share a few odd tidbits of info:
- You're getting close when traveling on Rt. 189N and see a large pile
of trees stacked on the right (after you've crossed 10/202); then a bit
after that when "S" curves start to tighten and become sillyfun be ready
to be HARD on brakes when you see the white "Massachusetts" state / town
line sign on the right... driveway is 100 yards prior to sign on right,
there will be a sign up.
- Cell service is spotty at BEST at the site. Plan accordingly.
- Beware angle of approach / departure into & out of driveway... those
running really low will have to aim their passenger mirror for the
mailbox and cut it diagonally. I'm picturing 2 cars in particular (heh
heh) this will be 'more' of a challenge to...
- Driveway is long and dirt in some sections... as tempting as it may
be to unleash glorious WRC 4 wheel roosters, please refrain. It is also
a single track in some sections so keep the speed down to 1st gear crawl
(until the tires hit the street then WOT is obligatory for all Festers
to hear... which we do / will). I will likely have designated runoff
areas marked should 2 cars meet up on the driveway going opposite
directions.
- Turn RIGHT at the Gargoyle 1/2 way up driveway (yes I said Gargoyle)
to check in tent... ***one way only on the upper driveway loop please
folks!***
- Again I'll be parking each (all) cars as you arrive (anal control
issues?), but only up to ~ 2:00 / lunch time. After that, use your
judgment or find someone (me / Rossato / Pasqualoni / Postupack) to get
directed appropriately. Don't just pitch it anywhere and run off.
Remember //SFest 'gimme' to first 50 arrivals, last year we had
stopwatches.
- Those arriving in 'something' they don't want parked on the grounds
themselves will be directed to alternative upper remote areas
accordingly, say if you arrive in a yellow Beetle or F(ag)150 or Miata
or something.
- If you know me this is no surprise... ***do not sit / lean on cars***
Don't laugh, //SFest 2002 I had to ask someone to get off the F355S,
WTF? Just say no.
- If you're tenting with us, claim and pitch camp ASAP upon arrival or
parking will spill into camp area... and ask before you pitch (me /
Rossato / Pasqualoni / Postupack) just to make sure.
- The raffle has grown deep and wide with offerings... we'll aim to
expedite to keep it moving and fun. Some great stuff folks, thank our
sponsors! Aiming for 4:00.
- Rumor has it my lovely Jennifer is schlepping out with all my kiddies
to say hi briefly (thank god) early on (thank further god)... find her
and thankthankthank her for putting up with all this and how I'm not all
that bad (heh heh). Will go a million miles.
- New (clean) outhouse and an outdoor shower on site. ***Residence is
off limits entirely***
- Event runs faaaaaaaar into the early wee hours of Sunday, if not sun
up for some. Serious. And the dynamics of the event change throughout
the day... we've got silliness as always up our sleeves for you.
- Respect others / cars / Bys' place.
- Lastly from the evite, *EVENT IS RAIN OR SHINE* come prepared. Bring
raincoats/pants/hats/shoes. Consider sunblock (last year was a
scorcher), sun hat, change of clothes, bug juice, chairs, blankets.
So that's about it. Tick tock tick tock, weather's looking good and
ducks are lined up. Make sure you get some sleep. And if I suddenly
shove my beer in your hand and runoff distracted, my apologies, it's
part of running this. I only ask you ensure the beer finds me!!! 8-)
Have great voyages up / over... see many many of you soon. Beware
Johnny Law!
-Paul lost his mind K.
wunder if I'll even wash my car this year?
ps. find and thank Bys!!! (tall, white haired gentleman)
