Autoweek did a comparo, Passport 8500 vs V1 vs the rest.
In the Detroit region (where their offices are) where there is
plenty of opportunity to false, they ended up with a slight
preference for the PP8500. They conceded that the arrows
and the slightly better range of the V1 was likely better
for more rural locales, and their reasoning was that the
continous compared to the 8500 falsing, despite the arrows,
tended to lull most of the operators into a false sense of
security (i.e. ignore that alert, it's just another....oops!).
So, depending upon your wife's commute, the 8500 may end up
a better choice. In reality, it may not be bad to have one of each,
one better suited for whichever type of trip you are taking.
