The sad thing is.  I sold my 96 TDI Passat two years ago to buy my 93 S4.
Ugh, worse.... its resale value has increased $2000!!!!  If you can find one
that is!

Seeing as how A3 Golf TDIs weren't sold in America, it might be hard to find

one within 300 miles of Philly :)

Just trying to help...I really want a Golf-3 TDI too :(
