Relaying the lights will give more voltage to the bulbs, making
them brighter.  For example, if your bulbs currently see only
11V (check it at the bulb) getting a full 12+ volts to them will
make them roughly 10% brighter.  In a nutshell, heavier wiring
directly from the jumper post or alternator to the bulbs gives
more juice than the long run of thin wiring from the fusebox to
the switch to the bulbs.
