i've done every lighting upgrade known to man. Rolf's source is correct...you'll never get 100 percent of the HID benefit putting them into housings designed for halogens.

The key to maximizing the benefit is keeping the focal point of the HID bulb the same as the halogen, so that the beam pattern remains as close to stock as possible.

With these super cheap HID's, they do in fact stay very close to OEM beam pattern. They also throw about a million more times light on the road (by my scientific calculations).

So while you may only be getting 90 percent of the benefit of a system "designed from the ground up" for HID's, it's still WAY better than stock, much better than euros with high-wattage bulbs, and significantly better than euros with a separate harness and 9011/9012's.

Part of the trick is staying with the 5300K temp bulbs...the higher temps may look superpurplecool, but they put fewer lumens on the road, which is what a headlight upgrade is all about.

FWIW, this discussion came up a few years ago. Although the quality of the
parts may be 'good', swapping them into lamp assemblies not designed for HID
bulbs can be more of a problem than it's worth. A friend of mine who owns a
nice lighting shop (rallylights.com) explained that the reflectors and
diverters? in a halogen lamp is often not going to give you proper lighting
if an HID is installed. Perhaps the S4/6 assemblies are closer than some
other lamp assemblies to working well. I don't know. Another concern is that
it is possible that the hid conversion may throw the 'bulb-out' warning in
your dash. Personally i went with the 9012/9011 or whatever numbers they are
and was pleased with the results. Good luck to ya if you buy into them!

Rolf
