[s-cars] What tools are in your trunk?

I as well carry have a basic kit that I keep in the trunk that includes
basic metric wrenches, screw drivers, pliers, a pair of vice grips (of
course), hammer, duct tape, extra serpentine belt, wire. hose clamps, and a
few other bits and pieces. I also carry oil, antifreeze (mixed), and
hydraulic fluid. Finally, thanks to the advice of a lister, I carry the lug
bolts from my regular wheels when I use my summer OZ wheels in case I need
to use the spare. On long trips if I have room I like to throw a spare
wheel and tire in the trunk so I don't have to drive far on the spare. This
also depends on where I'm going. I got stuck in Edson, Alberta once with a
flat tire and not a place in that town was open that had a tire to fit.
I also carry my "Audi book" that contains pages from ETKA and Bentley, phone
numbers of suppliers, parts receipts, and a few phone numbers of great
contacts I have made from this list.
Oh, and finally a "luminous thumb" for my wife to stick out to thumb a ride.

What a way to tempt the Audi Gods,
As soon as I admit I only have a lug wrench, spare tire and coveralls.
I'll break down on the way home.
On longer trips I take a bunch of hand tools and some duct tape, fluids,
but I have never had a stuck on the side of the road type failure.
Knock on woodgrain.

Sandy,

Nothing but the tools that Audi put in at the factory, unless you
count the umbrella. I figure that without parts you may as well have
a trunk full of hammers.

For the longest time i've traveled around with a full
tool set in my trunk, stands, floor jack, lights, etc,
etc. Not because the car is contantly on the side of
the road but i figured why not just carry all your
tools, just in case. on the other hand, its an S load
of extra weight.

What tools/spare parts/etc do you carry with you
everywhere? maybe not enough to change a cv joint on
the side of the road, but enough to get you off the
freeway shoulder.

Sandy
