[s-cars] Source for DOT blinker fluid?

Sounds like she's functioning just right to me.  The Mercedes has the
ability to leave the left or right side parking lights on depending on
the position of the switch.  Just turn the switch back to the right to
the "O" position and they will shut off.  The purpose - and this is
where the term "parking lights" stems from - is so that when you park on
the side of the street to jump into the store, or whatever, you can
leave the lights on the street side of the car on so other traffic can
see you.  Keep in mind that these are European cars designed for narrow
streets.  Sometimes you end up parking half on the sidewalk.

I was actually surprised that Mercedes retained this function on US
model cars.  

I don't think there is a requirement to have this function in Europe
anymore, but I'm sure somebody more familiar with it can chime in.
