[s-cars] intermittent oil temp gauge

Hi Keith:
Mine has been doing that for quite some time. I replaced the oil temp
sender initially but this did nothing. I then pulled the instrument cluster
and removed the oil temp gauge. The gauge has two "prongs" that slip into
the circuit board making the electrical connection. I cleaned these up and
hit them with deoxit. It worked like a charm for about 1 month and then
back to the erratic behavior. If tapping the cluster makes the gauge jump,
my $ is on these prongs not making good contact. When it warms up I may go
after it again but then again...
Regards,
Mark

Subject: [s-cars] intermittent oil temp gauge
Fellow s-heads,
My oil temp gauge seems to be intermitently dropping to the full low
value - usually stays at correct value and bumps down on a series of
rough bits (no shortage around Detroit area this time of year!),
occasionally it will stay at the low value for a few seconds until the
next set of bad bumps.
I assume this is a loose wiring connection at the gauge or sender -
any BTDT common cause for this before I start barking up the wrong
tree?
Cheers,
Keith
