I'll second the HEX-COM- comes with the license for VAG-COM hardcoded
into the cable, so you can use VAG-COM on any PC that has the program
installed provided that you use this cable that you buy from Ross
Tech. Also makes it easy should you have a laptop failure or something
similar where you can't use your usual PC.

I don't know if they came out with a new USB version yet, but that
will give you better future flexibility if you plan on changing
laptops.

Dual K-line HEX-USB if you think you might buy a newer VAG product in
the future, doesn't cost that much more.
