Have Bilsteins on my 85 GTI. They failed at over 120,000 miles , in 10 
years. This was while living in North Dakota, driving all year long 
with -40F winters and summers autocrossing. Of course mine were the Neuspeed 
valved ones so I simply called Neuspeed up, ordered new ones and sent the 
old ones in (with a copy of the original receipt) and then got credited.
