I replaced mine last year.  It's taken to sticking again, thanks I guess
to road salt, etc.  But it's better than it was.

Here's the message I sent last year.  It doesn't turn up on a Google
search of the Audifans archive.  Maybe this one will?

I just finished replacing the antenna mast on my '94.  The OEM
replacement mast was surprisingly cheap and easy to get a hold of, once
I determined the part number.

In my car, at least, the power antenna unit is an Auta 6000KE
manufactured by Hirschmann.  Hirschmann has a page dedicated to
replacement masts at http://www.hirschmann-usa.com/aa/replace.asp.
The part number for the mast for the 6000KE is 820902-105, which is the
same mast as is used by the 6000EL antenna unit, found on numberous BMW
models.

I found a brand new mast made by Hirschmann on eBay for $27.95.
